The Ohio Civil Rights Commission on March 8 ordered Silverton to halt discriminatory hiring practices and to report semiannually for three years on actions to increase Black employment. The city must offer McKinley his job back and provide back pay of four months from July 1 to November 1, 1974, less earnings. Ken Ware is owed back pay for 20 days, minus earnings from other work. The action stems from a 1974 complaint by former city service department employees.
