Farmers across Lincoln Dawson and Buffalo counties show rising interest in the Platte Valley irrigation project launched last winter. Engineers’ report expected by October first and funding milestones include a final $1500 installment.

Death claims Mrs O Rh Robinson in Denver trip
Mrs. O Rh Robinson formerly Miss Bessie Otten died in Denver Sunday night after a two hour illness. She and her husband traveled with Mr and Mrs Vickery to Denver, aiming to attend the North Platte Wheatland game. Heart failure is suspected. she left North Platte with her family for the trip. She was a North Platte girl, a high school graduate, and leaves a husband three children her mother and siblings. Funeral arrangements not yet announced.

Forecaster Shilling reports August 1922 with a mean temperature of 77 degrees, hotter than any July since 1913. The month peaked at 102, with 2.26 inches of rain and a dry spell since New Year’s. It featured 27 clear, 4 partly cloudy, and nine cloudy days.
Bullock Captures Pike’s Peak Race and Penrose Cup
Noel Bullock won the fourth Pike’s Peak hill climb with a 19 minute 50.4 second run in a self built 189 cubic inch car, taking the Penrose trophy and class prize. King Rhiley placed first in his class with a 20 05 time. Bullock, founder of the Bullock School of Flying, is an accomplished auto racer and pilot. Miss Mary Dye of Salina arrives to teach Spanish at the local high school this fall.

Quaker State Sons Hold Annual Picnic
The Quaker State Sons held an Illinois day picnic in Lincoln County with 110 attendees from across the county at City Park. A cafeteria dinner featured fried chicken, pies, fruit, and beverages, followed by races and prizes donated by Kiwanis members.
