Draft extension law warning targets slackers
Provost Marshal General Crowder announced a wide mobilization to enforce the September 12 draft registration for men 18 to 45. He warned that failure to register is a misdemeanor with trial in U S courts and up to one year in prison, with registrants then required to serve military terms after release. Between 20 000 and 25 000 slackers have already been rounded up since June 6 1947.
