Railroad Notes Report Local Travel and Track Upgrades
About one hundred tickets were sold to Kearney yesterday. Engineer Pat Norris was taken to Kansas City for medical treatment. Express Agent Hensolt returned from a vacation in St. Joe and Kansas City. Three motor cars passed west for SP and OSL. Engineer Thos Orton plans to buy a Stevens residence in Banks addition and move from Missouri. Double track grading between Watson's ranch and the city will be completed Sept. 25, rails to be laid after bed settles. Local yards were congested with freight cars, movement heavier than last year. Car foreman McKivoy and family depart for Denver and Colorado Springs for a couple weeks. An extra switch engine and crew will be added, making five, to operate passenger trains from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m.
