A new farce comedy Hello Bill opens next Thursday at the opera house. The play offers fresh themes and clean humor aimed at sensibilities rather than claptrap. Headlined by popular comedian Harry Carson Clarke, the company is described as unusually strong.
Mrs Milton Doolittle hosts a Wednesday Kensington gathering for her niece Miss Lenore Cummings of Chicago. A private Friday opera house dance with about thirty young people, and Mrs red W Rincker hosting card party next Thursday for Miss Cummings, round out society events. The West End Card Club opens on Sept 16 at the Goozee residence with alternating Tuesday evenings. Miss Aileen Fivon entertained the P S club and guests last Friday with games and lunch, assisted by Mrs Chas Murrin and Mrs Wm Morris.
The Convict's Daughter slated for next Saturday at the opera house in a magnificently staged comedy drama. All cast praised for choices from lead to extras with rapid climaxes and lively lighter moments likened to a Sousa march.
Dave Hunter of Sutherland ships large daily shipments of plums and grapes into the city, highlighting a thriving local fruit trade.
A Milwaukeee telegraph reports 100000 trainmen plan a September 15 wage increase bid, seeking 20 percent raises that could cost railroads $1,000,000 monthly. Delegates from 400 lodges will meet railroad managers to push the demand. a strike could halt service nationwide if refused.
An old remedy note advises treating a child’s croupy cough with Ballard’s Horehound Syrup in frequent small doses and applying Ballard’s Boon Liniment to the throat as needed. Sold at Streitz’s Drug Store.
Nebraska electors will vote on a joint resolution to amend Section One of Article Fifteen of the state constitution. The amendment details legislative proposal, publication requirements, and separate ballot procedures. Secretary of State Geo W Marsh certifies the copy as true and the call to vote on November 4, 1902.
