Johnston Memorial dedication set for Tuesday in North Platte
On Tuesday October 28 Wallace will formally dedicate the Johnston Memorial building with an all day program. A Poultry Culling demonstration is planned on Gale Baldwin’s farm at 3 PM Saturday October 22, drawing many local attendees. A prairie fire near Stapleton road burned 15 miles east toward the river. no buildings or lives were lost.

Union Pacific expands double track in Wyoming and yard activity grows
On October 1 Union Pacific completed 37 miles of double track in Wyoming, reaching 92 percent of the Omaha to Ogden route. Trains run on the North Branch extension Haig to Lyman with no set schedules. Mixed trains operate Tuesdays and Saturdays while local yards stay busy and freight crews remain at 28 per division. Berth price for Omaha to North Platte in a standard sleeping car is $3.76 plus 8 percent war tax or $4.05.

High School Cadet Band to Omaha with Football Team
Superintendent Littl announced the High School Cadet Band will travel to Omaha with the Football Team after a strong Lincoln trip last year. The band, now 57 members, is self supporting and has raised funds with help from the Chamber of Commerce. seventy men paying five dollars each will cover a deficit.

At a Lincoln County Red Cross board meeting A W Shilling was unanimously chosen to head the November Roll Call. He will organize the county, form committees, and promote the Home Service and Home Departments work. Mrs W Rowole of Hershey visited the city Saturday.

North Platte Triumphs 43 to 10 Over Ansley Eleven
A Friday Fair Grounds game drew about fifteen hundred fans as North Platte defeated Ansley 43 to 10. Antley scored two quick touchdowns and North Platte tallied on a series of drives with solid defense and clean play. Mr and Mrs Jon Souder welcomed a baby girl who is reported to be thriving.
