Memorial Day Observed in North Platte with Cemetery Services
Memorial Day observances occurred in North Platte with cemetery decorations by G A R W R C U S W V and a ritual over the last G A R member in the two cemeteries. A afternoon parade included the high school cadets boy scouts Home Guards band and drum corps followed by an address at Franklin auditorium by Rev C Franklin Koch. At McPherson National cemetery weather kept attendance lower though 909 soldiers graves were honored with flowers flags music and an address by J T Keefe. Services were led by J E Evans.

Berlin reports Huns victorious in Rheims and Solon gains
Berlin reports indicate the Huns hold northwestern Rheims forts and have captured three suburbs north of Solon. English prisoners rose to 35,000 with heavy war material seized. A Paris correspondent notes German activity toward the Marne and a fan shaped advance toward Fere-En-Pardenois and Soissons. The British defense around Rheims is stiff but forces have reallocated to the front.

Germans Lose 520000 Men In Present Offensive
Estimates put German losses at a minimum 620000 with authentic figures and divisions used multiple times. About 260 divisions have been engaged since March 21, totaling 3120000 men. French say many divisions suffered around two thousand losses each. The current drive gains are costly but comparable to northern March advances.

Seven Men Enlist In Service This Week In Sidney
Corporal DC P Millett of Sidney reports seven enlistments up to this morning from a recruiting drive at the federal building. The new enlistees are M A Haurigan Clare Lemon Lawrence Miller Bernard Schott Wm Montgomery Nelson Dickworth Bert White. They will ride to Sidney tonight on No 17 for examination and then proceed to Ft Logan. Millett expects more enlistments today and will return this evening.
