The Ladies of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen held a social at K P hall Tuesday evening. A progressive button stringing contest awarded prizes to top and bottom scorers. Mrs. Ben Viers won the ladies prize and Mr. Smith the gentlemen’s prize. Hart's orchestra provided music. Refreshments of ice cream strawberries and cake followed amid lighthearted remarks about spoon use during serving and train jokes.

A fine rain last week aided county crops as farmers finished listing corn and prepared to plant watermelons. Wotan and Fristo shipped another car of hogs to Denver at five to five ten dollars per hundredweight. The Cemetery Association fenced the long neglected cemetery. Mrs J R Casselman and daughter Nellie of North Platte visited. RK Staley hauled milk to Wallace this week for W A Latimer.
