New Ice Plant Begins Operations
The Lowe and Hawley Ice and Cold Storage Plant opened in a new East Front street building under Clyde Griffin from Omaha. The unit uses a 25 hp Fairbanks-Morse kerosene engine, a 28 by 46 by 10 ft tank with 96 compartments, and can produce six tons of ice daily. The facility stores forty tons and uses ammonia compression and brine cooling to freeze water into 11 inch by 44 inch by 22 inch cans. The same issue notes the 37th State Gun Club Tournament opening near town with 200 targets this afternoon and three days of shooting plus a screening for the film The Black Chancellor at Crystal Theatre. Two visitors from Cheyenne depart tonight.
