Town and county notes report Ascension Day services at the church at 8 o'clock Thursday evening. Local notices include sales of produce, a political candidacy for county clerk, rehabilitating autos, church events, and various travels and visits across Nebraska and nearby states.
W B Ellis sold his ranch north of town to C H Watts for 220 050. The property includes sections 7 17 and 18 15 30 totaling 1 760 acres across 480 acres in section 18.
D B McNeel purchased the Augustus Schlapp ranch northwest of town at a sheriff’s sale on Saturday for 24060. The 3600 acre property is described as one of the best ranch propositions in the area and is deemed cheap at the price paid.
The Girls Friendly Society meets this evening with Mia. Ray Robinson and Mrs Victor Van Goets Jr assisted by Misses Kate Seyferth and Irma Clinton entertain the Indian Card Club tomorrow afternoon. The Elk's social club hosts its second dancing party tomorrow evening for Elks and ladies. Christian Aid society is entertained by Mrs W C Meeks at 803 W St on Thursday afternoon May 25. A new business addition on north Locust Street opened last night in the Van Natta building, expected to draw patrons. Sunday rain aids germination and eases dry conditions for crops and mood. Beginning next Sunday post office windows will not deliver mail on Sundays. lobby open all day and mail distributed for rented boxes. Jos Spies offers Lexington artificial feed to consumers. A farmer south of Maxwell sold 42 bushels of alfalfa seed at about 63 dollars per acre. This repeats that alfalfa is “the stuff.”
French pork drops to 124 cents per pound and lard sells for 10 cents per pound in bulk. Smoked meats priced below all local shops. Schriener's Meat Market advertises lower meat costs across the town.
Cheyenne master mechanic Niland transacted business Saturday while W Patterson left for Sidney to supervise grading on the Union Pacific second track. A wedding shower for Miss Craigie hosted by city school teachers ended in a stylish ceremony with gifts and well wishes.
The Brady high school commencement exercise will be held May 26 at 8 o clock p m in Woodman hall. The program includes invocation by Rev Geo F Williams vocal solos by Miss Lucy Brown and Miss Nona Murphy a vocal duet by Mr and Mrs C M Trotter instrumental by Miss Nona Murphy and Miss Lucy Brown a class address and the presentation of diplomas.
