Eastern Star installs new officers at state convention
The State Convention of the Order of Easter Star installed officers for the coming year during a Thursday morning session led by grand officials. Named were Maude M. Smith as grand matron and H. T. Andrews as grand patron among others. Also noted: North Platte High School seniors present a class play The Fortune Hunter at the Keith Theatre on May 17 with reserved seating. Miss Willa Whittaker and Mrs J Forstedt hosted a shower for Miss Marie Stack at the Whittaker home.

Water Plant to Use Power From City Utility
At an adjourned City Council meeting a contract for electric current to drive new water plant pumps was presented by North Platte Light and Power Company through Manager C. R. Morey and Attorney W. Y. Hoagland. The contract sets 27 cents per kilowatt with a sliding scale and expires with the street lighting contract. The city plans to consider manufacturing its own power later, retaining steam rights for plant use.

City Praised for Drill Team Work During Convention
Compliments flowed Wednesday for the drill team's performance at the O. E. and Convention event Tuesday night. Dr. T J Kerr directed the team. A Hot Springs Arkansas message announced the birth of a daughter to Mr and Mrs D W Tarkington, with mother and child reported as doing well. Mrs Tarkington is Blanche Fonda, daughter of Mr and Mrs J H Fonda. Grandpa Fonda jubilees with pride.

Frank Behelman of Hershey visited relatives in the city yesterday. The high school debate team left for Lincoln with Miss Florence McKay and coach J. B. Carr. Paul Harrington was reelected to the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at the Nebraska City meeting. The Anderson and Stader Shows are announced for next week with a $600 guarantee to the fire department. North Platte hosted an Eastern Star parade and a large auto parade for the substation visit. The track team heads to the state meet with coach B. L. Stevens. Scout Leaders Training School graduates held a banquet at the Palace Hotel with certificates awarded. H. J. Rathman returned from St. Louis after Penney Stores conference. general conditions are improving nationwide but slow in the East. Shoe prices dip slightly while cash buyers are offered favorable terms. Rathman has procured merchandise from St. Louis jobbers now on display at the Cuney Store.

Special meetings at the Methodist Church to close Sunday night
Rev Dr Orcutt will end three weeks of evangelistic meetings at the Methodist Church with a sermon Sunday morning at eleven. Tonight’s service closes the week with no meeting on Saturday evening. Tuesday was fraternal service with visiting pastors present. The largest turnout came from the Christian church. On Wednesday evening High Street was honored by attendance.
