Yesterday forenoon William Yost filed as a candidate for the republican nomination for county clerk and A N Durbin for county treasurer on the same ticket. Both are well known and qualified. Durbin was deputy treasurer and Yost deputy county clerk. Durbin lived in Medicine precinct. Yost in North Platte since childhood. Both are clean and popular and expected to make a strong primary race.

Engineer Wood White to return to service early next week after a hernia operation. Terrence McGovern leaves town for Sidney to take a boilermaker job and Mrs McGovern will follow soon. Freight traffic on Nebraska roads cited as lower than ideal though prospects for a heavy upswing are noted as improving only slowly. After 37 years in railroad service D B Hines retired on pension, having been with Union Pacific 34 years and starting as a Rock Island engine rider in 1876.

Examination dates June 7 and 7 held at the North Platte post office conducted by Mrs. Lillian Gleeson for eligibles to fill district inspector of locomotive boilers positions. Salary 1800 dollars annually plus necessary expenses. Applicants must be 25 to 50 years old with at least three years as master mechanic or related roles and five years as fireman. There are fifty districts with one inspector per district.
