A miscellaneous column from North Platte reports visits and travel. Master Melvin Yates joins his father Biward Yates while Mrs Rose Garrison heads to Paxton. Several locals travel for funerals, hospital tea events, and church activities as well as business trips to Fremont and Omaha. Lost pin found at Black store. Weather outlook calls for fall with highs near mid 80s.

Frank McFadden, a prominent rancher seven miles north of Paxton, died Saturday evening after a wagon accident near an open culvert. He rode a high box wagon with a spring seat and may have been thrown forward. Funeral services were held at the Paxton Catholic church with several priests officiating. He leaves a wife, two children, three sisters in New York and Ireland, and a growing McFadden ranch legacy starting from 1888 in North Platte. The Tribune lauds his hard work, business sense, and integrity.
The season opener Friday saw four classes compete with officials A W Shilling W J O Connors Dr T J Kerr and Milledge Bullard serving as judges and security. Results include White winning the 100 yard dash in 11 seconds and Peters taking third, Burke and Bogue winning events in discus and shot put, and Miller Louden Peters Cool Calhoun among top finishers across sprints jumps and distance events.
The Keith Saturday concert by the high school boys and girls glee clubs attracted under fifty patrons. Both clubs performed well with encores, and two clever stunts by the boys added to the program. The town is urged to show more loyalty to the students and support future efforts.
Chief H L Baker asks residents to bring bikes to Vroman's shop for a unique identifying mark and to keep a register. He notes the city will host visitors described as side door tourists passing both east and west.

The southeast ball yard opens next Friday with the state normal school team from Kearney visiting for a game. Ogalalia will come on the 16th, the Hershey Giants on the 19th, and Maywood on the 24th to face the Boos tera. Promising amateur teams and strong past performances aim to arouse North Platte enthusiasm and bolster local boosters.
A car department game last night at the stock yards featured only car men. The passenger car men defeated the repair track men 16 to 6. Notable plays included catches by Morton of the passenger team and Gaunt of the repair team. Bratt and Goodman advertise a real estate bargain counter with bed rock prices.
