The thirty third annual May Party by Division 88 of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers at the Lloyd last evening drew a large crowd. Decorations, music, and a six number Stamp's Orchestra program plus a grand march entertained about a thousand attendees. The hall featured two locomotive depictions No. 15 and No. 2886 with a safety sign and vivid streamers. James F. Roddy chaired the arranging committee and praised the event's success.
A Brule Nebraska advertisement claims protection against fire lightning tornado and windstorm. It notes a local stockman losing 2 percent of cattle and 17 head killed by lightning, urging readers to purchase a policy from Bratt & Goodman, “The Leaders in Insurance.”
A bakery in North Platte suffered a major blast as a water tank exploded. The tank breached multiple floors, shattered windows, and wrecked interiors. Baker Edward Dicter suffered injuries from a falling stove and is hospitalized. A pipe valve clog suspected. Meanwhile Mrs. Barraclough died from a paralytic stroke at Good Samaritan Hospital, survived by husband Frederick Barraclough and eight children.
General Manager Ware and Mrs. Ware with Supt. Jeffers and Mrs. Jeffers traveled from Omaha in Ware's car for the May Party. Mrs. Jeffers will visit briefly. Reuben A. Scott married Sally Semtress in St. Louis on April 24 at St. John's Episcopal, with a dinner at the Jefferson Hotel. The couple will live in Sutherland after a wedding trip as Scott becomes cashier at the consolidated bank.
Evangelist Moody leads strong singing and Dr Lowry delivers "Some Essentials of a True Revival" at the big tabernacle. He urges belief, preparation, prayer and work for revivals as the services run nightly at 7 30 with wide community appeal.
