IMCAL Brotherhood Hosts 39th May Ball at K C Hall
The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers held its 39th annual May Party at K C Hall last night. An eight piece orchestra played as guests danced late into the night. The hall was crowded to capacity with many veterans absent due to space and missing decorations were noted but the event was regarded as a success.

White Elephant Sale Opens Today For Camp Fund
The Campfire girls present a week long sale starting at noon with hundreds of new and used articles. Proceeds support the camp fund. Tracks hint at the elephant’s arrival as the Ladies Band provides a musical kickoff tonight.
War Mothers Plant Poppies For Memorial Day
War Mothers report planting a bed of red poppies in each home garden as Memorial Day approaches. The poppy emblem will be worn this year and children are urged to plant them. The group plans poppies for sale for Decoration Day and discussed Memorial Day preparations at a recent meeting at Mrs. R. C. Langford's home.

North Platte Boys Win Track Meet From Three Schools
North Platte High School edged Cambridge 65 to 62 to win a track meet at the Fair Grounds attended by about 800. Roland Locke earned 261 points and set a state record nearing 220 yards. Rodwell of Cambridge scored 16 and Shaner of North Platte 12 as others shared podium spots. Harvey Sorenson, Dr. F. J. Wurtelle, Miss Elizabeth Graves, and a newborn daughter to the Scotts are noted in the city.

Miss Woods of the Lincoln Fine Art Shop organized the Friends of Fine Art Society in Franklin School. The group aims to bring about one hundred original American paintings to North Platte valued at 175000 to 200000 dollars. Officers include Mrs Shelver and Supt Littel. Admission fees apply with proceeds funding city school acquisitions.
