Nebraska Declamatory Union contest at Keith theatre
The annual contest drew several hundred to the Keith theatre with eighteen contestants from as many towns. Alva Crews won top in oratorical for Robert Emmett's Last Speech, Edwin Newboldt placed second with Gettysburg, Samuel Faes led the dramatic class for Swore Off, Miss Gertrude Morrissey second with How the LaRue Stakes were Lost, Edith Sixta topped humorous with Naughty Nell, and Francis Purney second with Apples. Judges were McMullen, Pate, and Redmond. The program ran past midnight, aided by male quartet Ringer Dressler Moore Scharman and the high school band. receipts totaled 162.50.

Mrs Hinman Died After Paralysis At Age Seventy Four
Mrs W M Hinman died Saturday after twelve days of left side paralysis at her home. She was born May 17 1886 near Wyalusing Pennsylvania and married W M Hinman in 1867. The family lived in Ft McPherson North Platte South Pass and Lincoln County for forty three years. Her funeral was held at the Presbyterian church with Rev Williams officiating, and she is laid to rest beside her husband. She leaves two sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister. The article also notes Colonel Cody at Madison Square Garden delivering a farewell line at the Wild West Show.

Blayney Mauled by Gun Accident in McPherson County
J. Blayney a Kinkaid homesteader from Ringgold suffered a left arm wound when a gun in his plow team slipped after he paused in the field. The injury destroyed bone and tissue, requiring amputation above the elbow. He rode to a neighbor and then to town for medical care.
