Cadet Encampment Set for Gothenburg High School

The annual cadet encampment for the high school boys will be held at Gothenburg, with about forty five boys attending May 22 for five days. Principal C G McGrew commands the company and the group will live in camp style, practice rifle drills, and engage in sham battles. Instructors for the Junior Normal include Wilson Tout and several superintendents from nearby towns. tuition for the term is $2. Crystal Theatre introduces Lucilla Love serial

The Crystal Theatre presents a two series drama about Lucille’s perilous hydroplane mission to recover stolen papers to save her father Loubeque and lover Love. In the first series Loubeque, a West Point cadet turned spy, plots against Love while Lucille pursues the ship with the papers. The second series features a dramatic ship landing, a fire, discovery of the papers, and Lucille's escape ending with a castaway fate on a South Island.

Detectives Battle Four Suspects in Paxton Box Car Fight

Detectives McComb and Wledman returned from Paxton with four men after a sharp clash in a Union Pacific box car. The men, from Colorado coal fields, refused to name themselves. Merchandise was missing from the car, and the suspects are jailed here as investigators proceed.

Hearing on Henry Geise Before State Pardons Board

The state board of pardons conducted a hearing on Henry Geise yesterday at Maxwell attended by many friends. John Yeiser presided and examined witnesses and affidavits to decide if Geise should return to the penitentiary. Judie Grant and William Beatty represented Geise, with J G Beeler for the state. Yeiser will collect further evidence locally.

Conditions Serious Says General Hall

A letter from Adjutant General P. J. Hall to Oren E. Garrison says conditions in Mexico are more serious than papers show. The company musters by Saturday for the new Sixth regiment, with 35 already, 58 needed, and mobilization possible at any time. Gothenburg's C. Kalleum may bring more recruits. a recruiter will be sent after muster.

Rebekah Meeting Largely Attended In District Gathering

The annual Rebekah district meeting drew about 125 delegates from neighboring towns and local members. The program featured addresses and music by the Rebekahs, a joint program with I O O F, and a 25 year jewel presentation by the Patriarchs Militant.
