Mutual Building and Loan elects officers at annual meeting
The Mutual Building and Loan Association held its annual meeting at the city court house with 45 of 986 shareholders present. Directors reelected were Mesers, Patterson, Redmord, Von Goetz and Cunningham with votes from 793 to 810. Officer terms were renewed: President T. C. Patterson, vice president Victor Von Goetz, secretary Sam Goozee, treasurer F. E. Bullard. Goozee to be full time secretary at $1000 yearly. attorney duo Wilcox & Halligan retained. Extra desk space arranged at Buchanan & Patterson. Additionally, Union Pacific double-tracking set to begin north of Watson’s Ranch to North Platte, per roadmaster Thomas Scott, with work starting early next month.

Does Music or Eloquence Exert Greater Influence?

Frank N. Vanderlip, president of National City Bank of New York, broke railroad speed records by racing 440 miles to Buffalo in 899 minutes with a 3 minute engine change, then 183 miles to Cleveland in 168 minutes, 108 miles to Toledo in 116 minutes, and 228 miles to Chicago in 212 minutes, totaling 15 hours 58 minutes to reach his dying mother.

West Side Merchants Protest Removal of Green Billiard Hall
Merchants on Dewey Street between Sixth and Fifth protest the relocation of the Green billiard hall to the Hahler store room arguing it will attract loiterers. The city council may decide saloon and billiard hall locations under state law. James Rowley was shot and killed Friday by neighbor James Jones over a dispute about a division fence. Jones fled and was pursued by posses but not yet captured.
