Hershey native H Eyerly named county highway commissioner
At a county commissioners meeting HM Eyerly of Hershey was appointed and the appointment confirmed by the state highway commissioner. He will supervise all roads and bridges in the county including 1400 miles of roadways and eight river bridges. He will report to the county commissioners on state and federal aid roads. Eyerly, long a Hershey resident, has farmed and run a local business and is described as level headed and fair.

Leon Darling Sentenced To Ninety Nine Years
Leon Darling colored pleaded guilty to homicide in district court and was sentenced to ninety nine years in the penitentiary for the 1919 killing of Conductor Robert Masser of Omaha on West Sixth Street. He waived trial, was transported from Lincoln via McCook, and the judge explained the penalty before sentencing. Darling was searched for a concealed weapon during the journey but no assault occurred. He will serve the term plus costs and was taken to jail after the ruling.

Twentieth Century Club Holds Meeting and Sets Clean Up Plan
The Twentieth Century Club met at Mrs W J Tiley's new home with hosting help from Mrs W G Harbold and Mrs Robert Dickey. Mrs Gilfoyle led singing and Mrs Conley and Mrs Caryl Pennington performed solos. The club ordered five weighing and measuring peaks for North Platte public schools and will cooperate with the Chamber of Commerce for the Clean Up Campaign on April 1. Hitmen were appointed to canvass needs. Campfire movement supported and printed in city papers. Afternoon program by Mrs Moran with Mrs Blujock and Mrs Skinner on Music and Americanization. Refreshments served by hostesses Mrs C F Spencer.
