Association Holds Annual Meeting At Court House
The twenty sixth annual meeting of the Muttal building and loan association was held at the court house Saturday evening with a small shareholder turnout. Five thousand five hundred seventy five shares exist, but 465 voted in the director election. Retiring directors Major Walker W E Starr and Ira L Bare were reelected with no dissent. Officers T C Patterson president Victor Von Goetz vice president Sami Goozee secretary and F E Bullard treasurer were re elected. Assets on March 1 stood at 8493 964 11 with 485 000 loaned on real estate. Loans of 105 000 were made during the year ending May 1 and interest paid on stock totaled 22 618 75. Total receipts for the year were 214 508 80.

Following a spring retrenchment, a reduction in the local shop workforce will occur next week. Six machinists and six machinist helpers are to be sent to Grand Island as the Second district engine repairs move there, leaving only Third district engines to be serviced locally.

Award Contract for New School in First Ward
The board of education awarded the contract for the new First Ward school building to Howard and J. A. Mc Michael for 21 641 dollars including heating. Eight bidders competed with outside bids from 17 937 to 23 900 without heating and heating costs 3 848 to 5 687. The 65 by 80 foot brick and concrete two story building will sit on board lands with basement eight ventilated rooms for lower grades.

Volunteer Fire Department Ball At Lloyd Opera House
Despite heavy weather hundreds attended the twenty sixth annual ball at the Lloyd opera house. Chief Sandall and committees organized an entertaining program with Stamp orchestra performing a concert. Dancing ran from nine to twelve with a supper break, then resumed. The event was a social success and thanked the five boys for their ticket purchase support.

Five-cent Dance and School Board Reelects Staff
At the board of education meeting last evening teachers not resigning were reelected. Assignments will be made in April. Wilson Tout elected superintendent and Principal Streitz resignations accepted. A social dance led by Corbin Jones and Millege Bullard set for tomorrow night at the Masonic hall. Miss Ethel McWilliams hosts the Young Ladies Kensington Club on West 6th Street. Mrs. Thomas Ryan and children return from a visit in Kearney. L. J. Hopfer to Manage Vienna Cafe as Lease Arrives
Charlay Hopfer, former North Platte businessman now in Ogden, Utah, bought the Vienna cafe furnishings and leased the building for five years. He plans to return by April 15 to assume management after closing his Salt Lake affairs. Mrs. Weil and Mr. Weil built a decade of success at the Vienna and will sail for Europe in May or June.

Weston Sentenced to Two Years for Mail Pouch Theft
