The German assault presses the British line in Cambrai sector with tanks and gas shells. Officials say the attack is greater in scale than any earlier western front action, five hours of bombardment followed by a heavy infantry push, with heavy casualties reported.
The Mutual Building and Loan stockholders meet at the assembition building tomorrow evening to elect four directors for terms of three years three years and two years. Expiring are Victor Von Goetz F T Redmond T C Patterson and G W W Cumming. The annual report will be distributed. Cohagen and Simeon T M Cohbagen nominated for re election as councilman First ward. Carl Simon also runs for First ward vacancy created by Dave Day’s removal. Simon's term runs May 1918 to May 1919.
A district stockholders meeting of the Farmers' Life Insurance Union was held Wednesday evening at the McCabe Hotel with about thirty members representing Lincoln Keith and Dawson counties. Attending were Ex-Governor Ammons of Denver Walter Johnson superintendent of agencies Willis Reed Nebraska attorney general. The gathering aimed to examine various phases of the Union's work.

Secret figures released by the British embassy show that by January 1, 1918 allied and neutral shipping losses reached 11,887,672 gross tons due to submarine activity, while shipyards produced 6,606,275 tons. The memorandum urges increased manpower and national unity to boost war output and warns against a continued drop in production.

Warren Soules of Brady transferred from Angel Island heavy artillery to the Philippines. Lato Foules and Dave Clark from Brady landed somewhere in France after Camp Funston. Fred Peterson at Leon Springs reports stomach trouble. Warren Doolittle moved from Camp Funston to ordnance en route to Baltimore. Harris Stuart, formerly Company EE, now at Gettysburg after leaving Camp Cody. Dr Morrill, Dentist.
In Nebraska precincts a War Savings stamp drive starts early in North Platte with many solicitors at work. Rural school houses host meetings to take subscriptions. Lincoln county aims for 275000 dollars and hopes to meet the goal before the campaign closes.
