Cattle Losses Rise Amid Heavy Snow and Ice
Reports from Friday last show cattle losses increasing with snow and ice choking nostrils and mouths. The heaviest toll since 1880-81 hits cattle outfits in the west part of the state, with outfits like the 7 H L ranch and Hyannis herd suffering major cuts. Individual losses include 250 head from J H McGinley and 100 from Simon Brogan, while some farms report twenty foot drifts and hogs buried under snow.

Found Dead in the Yards After Snow Drift
An elderly crippled man, about seventy five, was found frozen under a snow drift near the round house grounds Wednesday morning. He had wandered westward and was overtaken by the storm. A pocket book gave his name as unknown, and the undertaker Maloney handled the burial in the city cemetery.

Jerma Atkins of Huntington West Virginia shot and killed S G Stevenson at Julesburg on Wednesday then died by suicide. The motive stems from Stevenson's admonitions to Miss Bessie Hileman whom Atkins sought to marry and whom Stevenson warned against Atkins. Stevenson was married.
