Sheriff Goodall’s unshackled prisoner Jack Joyce escaped on a South Omaha to Braddy excursion after the two men rode in a chaircar. Joyce asked to buy a magazine and vanished through a vestibule trap door on the platform, leaving the agent unaware the man was a prisoner.
Lexington merchant A R Merritt sold six bulls, lightest over a ton. Tappan and Miles Margott clashed in a live bird shoot at Cozad, Margott hitting twenty five straight. John Crouch sold a 4 acre farm near Lexington for eight thousand dollars to Mrs Mary Middlehaulf of Sioux City. DD Newman & Co sold stock to The People's State Bank and the bank will close out the stock. Local smakepox cases at Curtis prompt nearby towns to raise alarm ahead of busier trade. A warm political campaign brews in Lexington as town officials prepare for events.
