Veteran photographer VanGoetz retires after sale of studio
Victor Van Goetz sold his photographic studio in North Platte after more than 25 years in business. Possession transfers April 1 to P. VanGraven of Alliance, who plans to run the Van Goetz Studio as a first rate establishment while Van Goetz retires from active work.

Democratic City Convention Elects Evans Mayor
The Democratic City Convention convened at eight o'clock Wednesday evening in the County Judge's office. Robert Beatty was named chairman and George Gibbs secretary. Healey announced the purpose and EBH Evans was unanimously nominated for mayor. O. E. Elder was nominated for city clerk with a unanimous vote. Ward committeemen were named and the chairman authorized to appoint a vice chairman and one ward committeeman per ward from among women voters. The meeting adjourned 25 minutes after opening.

Republicans Hold Convention in Crowded Court Room
North Platte Republicans gathered in the Court room Wednesday evening with every seat filled and crowds spilling into the halls. M. Souder chaired the meeting and nominations for Mayor led to a first ballot favoring Evans, then made unanimous. Elder was nominated for city clerk without opposition, while J. F. Clubrugh’s name was petitioned for the city clerk ballot. O. E. Elder, longtime clerk, was renominated.

Kingdon, recently worked at the Dedmore Kamera Shop. groom a Birdwood Ranch resident west of the city, parents in Kearney. Attendants were Miss Gindya Stegal and brother William Sellars. The bride wore a navy treleotine suit with matching hat and carried sweetheart roses. the bridesmaid wore a similar blue outfit and flowers. A wedding dinner followed and the couple left for an eastern honeymoon. The community wishes them well.

Woman's Missionary Contention Concludes Its Session

Free daily mail delivery expanded in Cody Addition
On February first Cody Addition residents received one daily mail delivery via a rural route. The plan extends to areas outside city delivery limits north of the new round house, covering about 125 locations. Postmaster Sturgis notes all city parts now have some free delivery except the Neville addition, which will be addressed soon.

Despondent man dies after carbolic acid drinking
Louis Paul Perleberg about 39 was found dead in the Bratt Building on east Front Street. Recently laid off from Union Pacific as a locomotive fireman he grew despondent over a rejected romance. Wednesday night he entered a room and drank carbolic acid, dying within minutes before the alarm could reach others. He is being held at the Maloney morgue awaiting relatives' word.

Dumping Grounds Move Requested By Park Board
The Park Board urged the City Council to hire a man for thirty days at the North River bridge to direct dump wagons to unload east of the bridge and to fling riverbank debris onto the east side. The river's erosion has narrowed the park, risking the race track, with trees to be used as barriers to hold loads.
