Farmers tell of extremely bad roads this week. Carriers on several routes struggle to reach destinations. Tiley, Wilcox, and Carpenter face multiple stucks west of a state farm, Diener's, and Platte Valley schoolhouse as residents complain of missed mail.

Western booge hounds arrived Wednesday and persuaded County Attorney Keefe to issue a search warrant for the Timmerman Hotel. The raid tipped off, bottles poured from upper floors, but only a hall pint bottle was found. A traveling man arrested for illegal whisky possession was fined $100. A booze vendor delivered four pints during the raid but the men had checked out.

Nels Henry Jesse Phillips and Mark Atchison cited. Henry, from Cheyenne to Grand Island, was fined $105 with costs after being barred from a night train and seized liquor. Clarence Hallenkenderfer returned home after discharge from the army, arriving in New York February 11 from Ireland where he served in aviation.
There will be several mayoral candidates for the April election with petitions circulating for Julie Pizer J H Stone and A M Lock. Rev Frank Koch declined candidacy leaving three or more contenders and a potential fourth or fifth candidate rumored.
