Dickens visitors and neighbors appear in a sprawling community notice with calls for events at Odd Fellows hall and Hats at Leader store. Various trips to Gothenburg and Omaha, social visits, and shop promotions paint a crowded local scene with marketing, weddings, and street news.
At the recent meeting the Elks installed four officers into roles. Exalted Ruler J. T. Keefe leads with Leading Knight Roy Cochran and Loyal Knight Pr RR Halligan among new appointees. Loren Sturges becomes Lecturing Knight and J. T. Redmond is Secretary. Treasurer Harry Dison and Tyler Wil Friend also take posts.
Mayor Evong issues order prohibiting roller skating on Locust and Dewey streets in the business district until the last and worst of the day is past. The skating table has grown popular and interfered with ladies walking, causing several near misses.
A.F. Hoagland circulates a petition to county commissioners calling for a new precinct to provide a convenient polling place for voters living outside the city. The move aims to end long travel to Baker School for suffrage and reduce disfranchisement among about eighty voters in the area.
A noted specialist from Missouri Valley will lecture to North Platte school children Friday March 17. He is secured through the dentists association and Nebraskan State Dental Society officers acclaim him for his work. Warren lectured nationwide and will visit Beatrice Hastings Grand Island Kearney and North Platte public schools.
Firemun James Brady relocates family to the Cunning Mouse. Frank Mekvoy departs this week for Chadron to take a shop position. Conductor Gene Melcomb returns to report for work after staying at his Cheyenne home. George Zentmover Jetty inspected Horine on a district trip. W M Cummings acts as chief dispatcher during the absence. For sale bales of hay priced at 740 per ton or by carload, BRATT & GOODMAN handle listings.
Young residents surprised Elmer Liles at his home with a farewell party before his six week automobile school course in Omaha. Friends and relatives, including Alex Jologton and Misses Daisy Hoover and Ethel Meneka, attended gatherings at several homes and shared news of travel, visits, and local events. Revival meetings begin at the schoolhouse as residents look forward to spring, with a note on favorable winter and upcoming district events.
