A severe March blizzard paralyzes Western Nebraska with wind driven snow up to drifts. Trains 13 and 5 are held at the terminal while westbound services from Sidney are stalled. Signals down and lines down hinder road conditions as residents abandon schools and streets lie snowbound.
Word arrived that Samuel Welch died at Spearfish Dakota and was buried in its cemetery. He had lived there with his sister and niece. His wife and children in this area are Mrs S H Welch Mrs George Garman Mrs Jos Hershey Mae and Hershey Welch. Nevita club hosted a St Patrick day party at Mrs John Dick with Emerald Isle colors shamrock and Irish themes. Prizes went to Mesdames Fred Payne and Voseiplea.

A blizzard bound rear end collision near Gothenburg kills several. reports vary from five to eight. A Pullman car telescoped the engine of No 12, many aboard injured, rescuers hampered by storm. Unverified report hints at three stockmen deaths near Sidney yards. Nearby incidents include a derailment near O Fallon and a church notice, plus local ads and a political nominating convention notice for North Platte Republicans.
Judge Grimes granted an injunction in Falk et al v Platte Valley Irrigation district restraining officers from contracting to repair the canal. The board had agreed to a $12,000 widening contract and a $1,700 contract for ten bridges. Petitioners contended contracts were void for lack of oath, bids, and proper meeting. the court upheld this and barred further action under the contracts. Lester Walker Wash passenger on train No. 12 in the wreck at Gothenburg last night but reports indicate no injuries among the train's passengers.
The M E Church plans a Sunday discussion on Courtship at 7 40 p m following a schedule that includes Sunday School at 9 40 a m and preaching at 11 00 a m in Passion Week. Junior League meets at 2 30 p m and Epworth League at 6 30 p m with a second preaching session at 7 40 p m on Courtship.
The Buick Co announced a new motor truck before the New York and Chicago shows and would build 1000 units. The U S government immediately purchased 200 for Parcel Post, with the remaining 800 sold at the two shows. Richard Shidler, a steel tool maker, operates a portable shop near Rexall drug store and produces edge tools including razors and pocket knives with tempering and regrinding services.
