North Platte Red Cross raised over 660 at a Friday and Saturday sale and lunch at the Strollberg farm. A turkey brought in money on Friday while a pig donated by Mr. Strollherz on Saturday was resold for a final tally of 256. Mr Diamond later donated the pig back for a planned sale on March 24 in the city. The committee and chapter praise Mr Strolbere for his constant support and the effort of the ladies. Frank Strohsberg is called a prince of a man and patriotic citizen.

Harshfield Cited to Appear at Lincoln Defense Council
John Harshfield of Birdwood Creek twenty miles north of Sutherland has been cited to appear before the State Council of Defense in Lincoln next Thursday. Sheriff Swalisbury served the subpoena yesterday. Park Sells Farms Near Platte Valley School House
Park yesterday sold two farms near the Platte Valley school house for thirty two thousand dollars. Andrew Olson bought the west 160 acres and Olson's brother purchased the east 160 acres. Olson lives at Minden. Park had homesteaded the east 140 acres and entered the west 160 as a timber claim with a fine grove on the latter tract.

Aged North Platte Resident James McGovern Dies at 85
James McGovern, a longtime North Platte resident for forty five years, died Sunday morning at his daughter's home. He was eighty five, survived by one daughter and six sons. Immigrating from Ireland to Maxwell before moving to North Platte, he worked for Peter Dalon before a thirty year stint with Union Pacific. He resigned twelve to fourteen years ago due to age. Funeral services were held at St Patrick's Church and burial followed in the Catholic cemetery.
