He was born 1842 in Indiana and moved to Iowa in 1864, married 1865, had seven children, and lived in Nebraska 20 years.

The North Platte Chautauqua directors announce a nine day program with speakers and entertainers. Participants include Congressman J. Adam Beade, Prof Ott, Father McCorry, Dr Fox, Judge Estelle, Dean Beecher, Senor Lala, Sterling Jubilee Singers, Ralph Parlett, a magician, and a magic lantern act. Prof Harry Maxwell will arrive early to lead chorus work and oversee the program. Rev Porter and Mr Ringer will organize a male chorus and Lowell’s band will perform across the event.

If plans mature a grain elevator will be built this summer on east Front street in North Platte. Trackage arrangements with Union Pacific have practically been secured and a construction contract will likely be let soon. The project would boost North Platte as a grain center.
