Six hundred Nebraska auto dealers gathered at the Notel Fontenelle in Omaha to organize the Nebraska Automotive Trade Association. Officers and directors were elected for three year terms, with WH. N. Ogier named as one of the five directors. The group aims to enroll all of the state's about 2,000 auto dealers.

Germany Hints Alliance With Mexico and Japan
Washington reports a Zimmermann note in U S hands showing Germany sought allied action with Mexico and Japan to strike the United States. The plan envisioned joint war, Mexican reconquest of Texas New Mexico and Arizona, and later mediation with Japan to defeat the Entente by unrestricted submarine warfare. The document dates January 19 1917 and was kept secret as Wilson sought authority to confront Germany.
