Miss Marie Von Goets and a guest depart for Colorado while Miss Belle Leypoldt visits Hershey friends. Ohio and Nebraska visitors arrive, with socials and church events noted. The Hershey electric plant update and letters from Philadelphia, Omaha, and Florida residents appear alongside local sports and forestry interests.
A windstorm shifted the J. T. Lister barn off its foundation prompting an insurance claim. Bratt and Goodman settled the loss quickly and satisfactorily, praised by Mr. Lister as a safe choice for coverage.

Senator W. W. Hoagland of this city mailed his nomination as a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor from Lincoln. Western and eastern Republicans urged the move though he had been named as a possible governor candidate, which he declined to pursue to avoid leaving his law practice for two years. If elected he would be absent from business only during the legislative session. The Tribune approves of his candidacy and will comment further.
The Benton cattle company and J. W. Baughman along with W. S. Coker and Simon Brogan reached a out of court settlement on a land dispute involving nearly 25 000 acres near Sutherland. The case, tied to leases with Union Pacific and questions of rightful lessee, was never tried due to a sick judge.
Mike Singer and William Burns arrived in the city after starting from Newark on April 13. They travel about thirty miles daily rain or shine and will sleep in Sutherland and Ogalalla before reaching Sidney for the Fourth of July. Their journey ends in San Francisco around October 25.
The Brotherhood of American Yeomen in North Platte announces a picnic on July 4 at 620 Mast 4th Street with noon dinner on the lawn and a ball game on the Iseal diamond. Special initiations drew J. G. Beeler Jack McGraw Horton Munger E H Springer of Brady and Thomas of Dickens. several candidates were expected but did not arrive.

The Lutheran Aid Society ladies held a pleasant surprise party at Mrs. G. S. Huffman’s home Thursday afternoon to honor her as she retires after serving as president for the past year. The group arrived to take over the house, enjoyed social diversions, and shared refreshments. They presented Mrs. Huffman a lemonade set.

M Keith Neville filed suit against George G McKay seeking possession of specified premises and $200 principal plus past due rents totaling 60 dollars monthly. Notice to vacate was served May 11 1914 for non payment. McKay runs a dry goods store at 519 Dewey Street. Page also notes a license to wed issued for Peterl Peterson and Ruby N Linstede both of Gothenburg. The couple will marry and reside on a farm near Crothenburg.

The Pirates defeated the Tigers Sunday afternoon at the ballpark following the Kearney North Platte game by a score of. The Pirates’ battery was Husband Wooten and Coberly and the Tigers’ battery was Smith Langford Woods and Peters. Governor McDonald of Maryland and six others rode through the city Saturday night in a special car to No. 16 en route to California to select a site for the Maryland building on the exposition grounds.
