Word reached North Platte Saturday of the death in Denver of Quimby Lamplugh a resident here thirty years ago and brother of Isaac Lamplugh. His wife was a daughter of the late David ay. Sage Knock Overalls for Men and Boys Tux Clothing Dept.
Supt Snyder announces Wednesday July 18 as the date for the third annual farmers picnic at the cental sub station. An invitation will extend to Governor Paulenberest State Senator Brown and other Nebraskans to attend and speak. Farmers from nearby counties are urged to show interest as experiments at the station benefit all who participate.
A group of Y A boys left early this morning for a cross country trek aiming at about 130 miles. Led by Perry Cann and Harold Chamberlain, the party traveled with a wagon carrying gear and outfits. They expect to be away for two weeks.
Mell Earth Lives Mel Earth, a former North Platte man, attempted to kill his wife and himself in Salt Lake City. Gashes on his throat were thought fatal. He was moved from hospital to sell and will be tried for attempted murder. Mrs Karth, wounded three times, is out of danger.
W.8. Ross of Myrtle told visitors in town that after twenty three years in Lincoln county he has never seen such fine prospects for a bumper crop of small grain in the northern part of the county. He noted not only excellent grain condition but also larger than normal acreage.
Lem Hailey has closed the Front Street billiard hall bowling alley for renovations. He plans to add two more lanes along with card tables easy chairs to better accommodate patrons. The room will reopen with a new paint job and a re laid floor.
Rev C C Wilson former Methodist minister of this city and long time presiding elder with HQ at Holdrege has resigned to enter banking. He has secured investors in a Holdrege bank and will engage in financial work locally.
The Fourth of July committee contracts with J. D. McCormick of Osceola for two balloon ascensions and a parachute grape display on July 4. McCormick is an experienced balloonist and promises to deliver value for the money.
Mrs. W. E. McCarty of Ogden visited friends in town Saturday. Mrs. John Herrod traveled to Denver Saturday night for her uncle’s funeral. Mrs. Guy Robinson came from Lexington Saturday evening and will stay with relatives this week. Mayor Patterson returned from Omaha after the water company suit hearing. Paxton plans an elevator run by local farmers due to rising small grain acreage. A Lexington woman found 150 chickens missing in one night, prompting her anger. Harmony high five club guests were Mr. and Mrs. Will Turpie for a Friday evening. First rites were won by Mrs. Bixler and Jr. Muldoon and congrulatory balm by Mrs. Cressler and Mr. Pizer. refreshments served. Tribune man met former North Platte resident Tom Shannon in Salt Lake City, once part of a 1886 group of young North Platte men. He now travels with an eastern manufacturer’s goods.
