War Garden Prizes Awarded in North Platte
Prizes for the North Platte war garden campaign led by J B Nelson were awarded by W P Snyder and C P Kildahl from the state experimental sub station. Awards included a silver cup ten gold medals and three bronze medals to named winners with several gardens receiving favorable mention. Henry Yost’s garden was judged best but disqualified due to market gardening work.

Mrs Byron B Oberst sold a bungalow on east Fourth Street opposite the First ward city park for 4500 to Ed Stofreggan and will relocate to Omaha while her husband serves. Laura Van Natta bought the Lem Bailey residence on east Sixth Street. L W Walker and May Walker bought the Garlick residence on west Third Street for 4300 and plan added rooms and apartments for Lester Walker and May, and for L W Walker with wife. Fred Waltemath house moved to south Locust and remodeled was sold to Lyman Berthe who will move in after Waltemath relocates to west Third.

August Draft Call Seventy From Lincoln County
Lincoln county’s local draft board reports about seventy young men will be called in August, similar to July. The August call will exhaust Class One and include many who registered in June 1918. Entraining date not yet announced. board will prepare the list of those who will go next month.

Dunn Sells Interest in Nyal Drug Store and Retires
F. J. Dunn, longtime associate of the Nyal drug store, has sold his interest and will retire tomorrow. He has purchased a drug store in Gran Island and will move there shortly with his wife. His West Fourth Street home is for sale, and friends regret his departure.

Muldoon Appointed Manager for Whelpton Estate at Ogalalla
Albert Muldoon has been chosen as manager and attorney for the Whelp ton estate at Ogalaila and will move there. The estate lists over six hundred thousand dollars and requires Muldoon’s full time. He will discharge his North Platte properties and other interests. This change removes two splendid people we regret to lose.

Mrs Barber Injured In Colorado Auto Crash
Mrs Frank Barber sustained injuries in an auto accident last week in Colorado. To avoid a collision on a dangerous road, Mr Barber steered the car into a hillside, the impact throwing Mrs Barber against the windshield, cutting her face and discoloring her eyes. The car was heavily damaged.

Clay County Sends Registration to Fort Dodge and Camp Dodge
Word from Clay County reports William Fleming left for Camp Dodge on July 2 as part of the county contingent. Fleming, former principal of the local Senior High School, had volunteered for Officer Training at Fort Snelling but was rejected for physical reasons. Other local men await draft, including Ward of Pilotmouth and Paul Ohman who joined the navy near Chicago as a chemist assistant. Supt Tout and Mr Newman remain the only school staff connected. the new high school principal may be a woman.
