The North Platte area hosts community events and personal notices. Miss Harriet Fowler honors sixteenth birthday with a party. funerals are held for the two months old Abernathy infant. Chautauqua closes with Dunbars and lectures by Merica and McMurray.
The Chautauqua assembly faces a small projected deficit of two to five hundred dollars, to be covered by a modest stock assessment on 120 shares. Last year’s deficit exceeded eleven hundred dollars, but receipts this year are closer to expenditures and show improvement over 1909. North Platte residents voice strong support for continuing the Chautauqua next year.

FE Van Natta driving from Dickey's with ice cream on the car was struck by passenger No. 4 eastbound at Locust street. A flagman was missing and the car was torn apart, a total wreck, but both men survived unharmed and were shaken by the collision.
Friday night Minor Hinman and J B McDonald were thrown from a car after a front wheel broke and the vehicle turned turtle on west road. Day leaped about twenty feet to land in the sand. Hinman and McDonald suffered bruises gashes and a sprained ankle. Day was shaken but helped pull his companions free. car damage limited to wheel and steering gear.
Lucy Baldock twenty-year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Thos Baldock died Saturday morning after a brief illness described as weakening of the blood. She had lived in the city about a year from Stanberg Missouri and worked in the Huffman millinery store. Funeral services were held at the Christian church and interment in North Platte cemetery.
Uly and Ivey Beene announces candidacy for re election as representative of the 54th district subject to Republican support at the August 16 primaries. He pledges to back progressive legislation and district interests while stressing timely redistricting to ensure west representation.
C. H. Eyerly of Hershey was a business visitor in town Saturday. Geo. Crick returned to Northport yesterday morning. Mr. and Mrs. John Shaw of Hershey were visitors Saturday. Will Hendy of Maxwell transacted business in town late last week. Mrs. Jessie Dykeman of Sutherland has been visiting friends in town for several days. Mrs. H. N. Hart came from Paxton Saturday for a brief visit. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. White of Sutherland spent Sunday with friends, returning home yesterday. Mrs. Clarence Tollifsen of Sutherland visited with her parents Saturday and Sunday.
