A project to break out 800 acres on the Pizer and Halligan ranch six miles southeast of town aims to seed the land to winter wheat this fall. Work will start once tractors and plows are secured, increasing local grain production for Lincoln county and feeding Allied troops.
North Platte Nebraska July 19 1918 the undersigned enter an agreement among meat market owners to discontinue delivery of meats and merchandise for the term from November 1918 to August 1919 each party pledging 100 dollars as damages for breach. Also listing farms for sale 1120 acres grazing land at 8 dollars per acre and 240 acres valley land at 16 dollars per acre near North Platte with terms possible Milpongesr and Leininger agents.
Scott Reynolds completed a major real estate purchase by acquiring 1400 acres of the Clans Mylander ranch five miles southeast of town for 70000 dollars. Mylander reserved 169 acres for his daughter and a tract for his son. The sale includes the main buildings and grove adjoining Reynolds west ranch.
Linkwitz of Birdwood County appeared before Judge Woodhurst on a charge of killing eight horses belonging to neighbor Lyman Reed. He pleaded not guilty and was held on $2,000 bond for a hearing next Friday. He secured liberty after favorable bond terms.

A telegram to Mrs. Wm. Coleman from Mickogee Oklahoma reports Sam J Smith killed in an oil field boiler explosion. Smith, once a North Platte plumber who worked on the Klot McGabe building, had moved to Oklahoma a few years ago and married since.
George Razes proprietor of a Dewey street shoe shining parlor was fined sixteen dollars and costs in county court after threatening H L Pennington with a 46 caliber revolver. Razes pleaded guilty and had the weapon confiscated by the sheriff.
Saturday was the last day for nomination filings for political offices with names set to appear on the primary ballot on August 20. Republican candidates include County Clerk A S Amilen Lucille Pee County Treasurer S M Sounder Sheriff A J Salisbury and others. Democrat contenders list Cyrus Russell John Grant Leelie Finnskins and more for various county posts.
A Mexican man faced a preliminary hearing before Judge Woodhurst after slashing his wife with two knives near Miter. He was bound over to Matriot court with a $2,000 bond, which he could not post, and remanded to fall. The wife, hospitalized since the affray, died last night, while Mrs. Newman, mother of BD Seed berger, died at age thirty-six after long injuries. Funeral services will be held at one o'clock forher, with interment planned in Sigourney, Iowa on Nov. 2.
