Man found guilty of illegal whiskey possession and sale
Charley Turner colored was convicted in county court on illegal possession and sale of whiskey and sentenced to sixty days. He appealed to district court after posting a $500 bond. The case stemmed from a raid on the Rebhausen barber shop last Tuesday morning yielding two valises of liquor. Turner testified that he sold whiskey to George Welsh for seven dollars, while Welsh admitted receiving whiskey but denied it came from Turner. This marked Turner's second liquor law conviction, carrying jail time rather than a fine.

Tramp and Sons Buy the Reynolds Building on Dewey Street
Negotiations ending Saturday closed with E T Tramp and Sons gaining ownership of the Reynolds building on Dewey street. The lower floor houses J H Stone and the Gummere Dent Drug Co and leases run to July 1920 after which the spaces will be occupied by Tramp and Sons stock. The purchase secures space for the shoe department as a leased room will be taken by Harry Dixon.

Lincoln Highway Progressing Rapidly to North Platte
The Lincoln Highway between North Platte and Sutherland advances with 18 to 20 teams daily under contract to T Whelan. Grading and clay work reach from Sutherland east to the branch crossing. completion to North Platte is expected in 90 days. After grading, state oversight will gravel the nineteen miles with government supplied trucks. A road maintainer will operate per six to eight miles, using an auto truck to haul gravel. The completed route will be a new boulevard of dirt and gravel.

Municipal Band concert draws large crowd and praise
Friday evening turnout was strong as the Municipal Band delivered a fine program after a period of disorganization due to wartime service. James Shaffer's singing with band accompaniment was well received and there were notes on park crowd management during performances. A July 27 church service plan was announced by Bishop Beecher with Holy Communion and a 11 a.m. sermon. Hugh Songer and family prepared to visit Montana. Lincoln County teachers exam set for July 26 in North Platte. Fred Warren family of Tampa, Florida, to visit North Platte next Sunday.

U P Lease Move Aims to Fund Lincoln Highway
The state board of Irrigation highways and bridges authorized State Engineer Johnson to visit Washington and urge the secretary of agriculture to endorse the Union Pacific right of way lease. If approved, federal and state aid funds will expedite permanent Lincoln Highway improvements along the U P right of way through Lincoln County.
