Hodges to Start Cattle Ranch Near Ogalalla
Mr Hodges of Ogalalla arrived recently and will take a homestead south of town to begin a cattle ranch. Naomi Dowell chosen as Dickens school principal for the coming winter. She has lived near Dickens, taught for several years, and is regarded as a good teacher. The school board will lay a brick foundation for the schoolhouse. Crops show strong progress, especially corn, with hoppers reduced and watermelons thriving, though still small. Each farmer owns ten to thirty acres of melons, promising a plentiful harvest if favorable weather continues.
