Weather and crop prospects dominate the report as corn shows strong growth after recent rains. Alfalfa and hay are good, beets thrive with weed control, and potatoes promise solid yields though some weeded acreages struggle. The county notes less hail damage and scattered personal visits across Brady and Giltner.
Elm Creek edged North Platte Legion 1 0 after eleven innings in a tight local diamond game. Umpire calls and Beal Langford San dall thefts noted as pivotal while Farned runs and base hits remained scarce. Mrs. W C Shelver and son relocate to Rawlins Wyoming as she ends her North Platte involvement.
Scout Executive E. L. Stephens unveils a big rest of week plan. Scouts, masters and assistants will visit the new camp site Wednesday night for an overnight stay. The executive committee and Mr. Piper will discuss vital matters after arrival. Troop nine will transport the new camp cart to the grounds and stay overnight. Third day hikes depart Thursday from scout headquarters, returning Saturday afternoon. Troop five plans a Kopf's grove picnic near the river with some boys leaving at five and others at six due to work.
Elizabeth M. Diener formerly Elizabeth M. Everhart died at her Lincoln county home Sunday. She was born May 22 1862 in Norfolk Ohio and moved here in 1887. She married Fred J. Diener April 17 1888 and had two children Dallas F. Diener who died in infancy and Lauretta BE. Diener now Mrs Frank A. Baldwin. Burial was in North Platte cemetery after a 2 30 funeral at First Christian Church. The Tribune offers sympathy to the bereaved husband and daughter.
Mrs. John Kehiler of Maxwell shopped in the city Friday. D. A. Tarkington of Wallace trans acted business in the city Saturday. Mrs. C. E. Souser returned from Lexington after visiting relatives. Miss Jessie Baker left for Omaha to attend a Western Union managers convention. Miss Mable Walters returned from Lincoln where she attended the University. Miss Glara Sorenson yesterday from Omaha where she visited weeks. Miss Alfreda Astverg of Polk came to visit her sister Mrs. W. D. Hill. Miss Myrtle Hill left for Rochester Minnesota for Mayo Bros. Mrs. A. G. Miller and children left for Alliance where Mrs. Miller was called by her mother. Mr. Miller accompanied them to Sidney. Luther and John Tucker have a two week visit from three nephews and nieces. Their home is Beatrice.

John H. Piper regional executive for six states will visit North Platte on Wednesday evening to confer with the local scout council executive committee about local work. He will review an application for a first class charter and advise the national body on recommendations.
A charity social at St Patrick’s School Hall on Wednesday July 19 from 3 to 9 pm aims to fund a new parish home for Rev Patrice McDaid. Entertainers include A Miles B Hollingsworth A Rauch R McGovern C Fitzpatrick L Crosby A Roddy J Oulmette. Ice cream cake and candy will be sold. a fish pond adds draw. Gus Labor of Wallace transacted business in the city Saturday.
H. D. Lute, secretary of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation, spoke before the Rotary club at noon and spent the afternoon meeting with local farm bureau members and friends. Lute, a longtime dirt farmer, has paused farming briefly to aid in organizing farmers, a task he deems vital.
Thousands vote in Lincoln county as polls open at 8 am and close at 6 pm for party nominations. Voter qualifications include age and residency rules, with city voters needing city clerk registration. Counting boards of four will tally results after polls close, with county results likely an hour later.
The Campfire Girls Lodge 18 received its first donation a three lamp chandelier from Mrs Mra. Van Doran last week. The lodge seeks household articles used in modern homes and asks friends of the campfire movement to donate. Contact Mrs Adda Turple chair of the local council or any guardians to arrange donations.
