Mayor and Mrs Patterson and Mrs Ruth Edith Patterson left Wednesday for Omaha. They planned to travel by auto to make the run and arrive at noon today, with return home expected later in the day.
The Dickey brothers shipped a large quantity of ice cream for Fourth of July needs. The operation involved significant effort to prepare and deliver thousands of servings to stations and towns, illustrating the scale of this food service task.
The weather bureau reports that last month set a new heat record with a mean temperature higher than the long term average. The highest temperature reached 104 on the 29th, and only once before has the normal fortune fallen below seventy four, in 1886.

Frederick Brau a former Linen county resident died at his daughter’s Sioux City home after months of illness. Born in Prussia he served in the Mexican and Civil Wars before moving to Lingold county in 1887 and later to North Platte. He was survived by three daughters Emma Alvina and Lena and was married twice.
Mr John B Ratto presents a unique entertainment impersonating everyday characters. He performs in makeup with a sequence of assorted personae forming a panorama of society. Each sketch is presented before the audience with live pencils and a mirror reveal for added effect.
The author estimates 2,000 residents left North Platte for the 4th of July and argues the celebration would have attracted outsiders. He urges plans for a future city event, praising Albert Durbin and family who spent the holiday away with friends at Wellfleet and Somerset Dickens.
