Gothenburg residents and guests are noted in a round of visits and arrivals. Several travellers arrive for family visits, a few departures occur, and local groups plan meetings and outings around July and August events.
North Platte residents prepare for an August 6 election to decide whether to approve a May 22 council action ratifying the transfer of the North Platte Telephone Co franchise to the Nebraska Telephone Co. Debates center on the franchise value and city control.
Mrs Mary Morgan died at her West 6th Street home Tuesday afternoon from poisoning caused by eating canned sweet potatoes last Saturday. Born September 18, 1859 in Richland County Wisconsin, she married Fred Moran in 1878 at Belvedere. Survived by two daughters, a son in Colorado, sister Mrs Walt Stuart, mother Mrs Esther Harris and two grandchildren. Funeral at her residence conducted by Rev Miller.
Burglars entered the C. F. Iddings Co office through a window last night and made a failed attempt to blow the safe. A knocked off combination knob and powder ignition caused a small explosion but did not open the door. The mill office was entered with no theft, and tools were stolen from VanCleave's blacksmith shop, indicating amateur operators.
A dry spell was broken by a sequence of rains this week, totaling about three quarters of an inch. Rain was widespread with heavier falls west of the city and a small washout of the U P track at Roscoe. Reports note local travel and visiting relatives, with confirmations of residents on trips and family visits from Ogalalla and Sioux City.

Vera Bartholomew visits Gothenburg. Mildred Pizer to Denver. George Smith, Western Union messenger, injured in a Dewey street collision with two autos. In Las Vegas, Dim Flynn fights a brutal exhibition as Johnson and Cowles end the bout after nine rounds with Johnson unmarked.
