The thirty first annual Nebraska Volunteer Firemen's Association convention ends with a banquet at the Masonic hall. Delegates from about 100 towns, totaling 340, discuss fire department improvements and legislative needs. Columbus to host in 1914 Alliance to hold 1913 tournament.

A large crowd of about 800 packed the Lloyd opera house for a sparring exhibition last night. Main event featured McCarthy of Ravenna defeating Hargis of Lexington in five rounds after two city preliminaries, Kid Lange and Tommy Smith, and Westbury and Brown.

Settlement Reached After Food Poisoning Case With Montgomery Ward
G W Whitcomb and family received 200 dollars on part pay from Montgomery Ward after being poisoned by pickled pigs feet. An adjuster signed a settlement on Sunday promising the balance upon return to Kansas City. Whitcomb later received a 200 dollar draft. A larger claim of 5000 dollars was considered but settled early. Also, the Garlow car burned near North Platte cemetery. the fire damaged the vehicle and was covered by C F Temple auto policy.
