W H McDonald visits Omaha on business and social rounds. The Italian orchestra returns to Keith theatre for another concert as residents report cold snap and snow. Local gatherings include Royal Arch Masons banquet and Pana ma canal map talk.
L Scott president of the Oregon Sire Line arrives for Safety First gatherings alongside Union Pacific officials including Supt Cahill and Division Master Mechanic Boory. Cold weather delays trains Nos 15 19 and 6. A special train carries the body of Larmon V Harkness VP of Standard Oil from California to New York with 9 aboard and substantial freight charges.
Heating stoves below cost and upwards plus coal savers are advertised at Hershey's opposite the post office. The note mentions a regular meeting of Palestine Commandery No. 13 Knights Templar at eight this evening. Weather forecast for North Platte predicts fall tonight and Saturday with little temperature change.

Colfax Encampment No 23 I O O F presents an evening program for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. Grace Morrison, a nationally known reader, will perform readings and recitations alongside local members. Light refreshments will follow a full program, with a large crowd expected.
The Presbyterian men's brotherhood met at the Butler Buchanan home for a social and business gathering. Twenty four members attended and elected officers for the coming year: J. H. Poney president, Frank Buchanan vice president, William Ritner secretary and treasurer. Retiring officers were Bruce Brown president, Dr. H. B. Mitchell vice president, J. C. Holl man secretary and treasurer.
County Treasurer A N Durbin urges payment of personal taxes before February first to avoid distress warrants. Many have paid this month, boosting receipts. Loretta Murphy, a Herdhey schoolteacher, is home ill with tonsillitis. Secretary of War Garrison calls for a larger army and supplies, noting current ammunition shortfalls. O. R. Robinson announced at a recent association meeting that he cannot devote time to managing the team next year. Ji Dante, former Indiana University catcher, is under negotiation for the role and is currently employed at Davis garage. Robinson did a good job last season but his time is taken up, so another manager is expected to be chosen.
