Local announcements list a social evening for the Harmony high five club hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Waltemath. It notes a local job ad and several community items including county officer settlements and upcoming sales.
The waterworks company sues the city and the case will be heard in the U S circuit court at St Louis next Monday. City Attorney Halliigan and associate J G Beeler will depart for St Louis Saturday to argue the city's position.
The Knights of Columbus will entertain their wives mothers and sisters on January 25 in a well anticipated function noted for their reputation as capital entertainers. Guests can expect a pleasant evening remembered long after the date.
Jake Koch, living south of Hershey, reported losing twenty five head of cattle to black leg while in town Saturday. He says the disease was halted by vaccinating the herd, a process required three times. Neighbors also faced losses but not on the same scale.

Rt. Rev. Geo. A. Beesher bishop of this Episcopal jurisdiction will visit North Platte the first Sunday in February and stay several days. A reception at the Masonic temple is planned with parish members and friends invited.
Union Pacific sets a new time card with trains No 23 and 24 known as the Grand Island local running to Julesburg. The Omaha departure moves from 4 30 pm to about 11 pm and arrival at Julesburg around eight the next morning, replacing the mail and local service formerly done by train No 11.
Mr. Kauffman of Grand Island and Mr. Wernertz of Kearney leased three rooms in the Elka building for five years. They will use the two south rooms for merchandise including five ten and twenty five cent goods and sub-lease the north. Kauffman also operates in Grand Island and will partner with Vernetti in Kearney to run the local store. They plan to open after minor room changes.
Miss Allen presents a varied program Friday evening at the Keith Theatre featuring three scenes from Barrie's Little Minister by Irma Huffman. The program includes a Doll and Baby Show Indian club Dumb bell and Hoop exercises and readings by Georgina McKay Howard Brown and others.
Senator Hoagland introduced four bills in the state senate on Friday. The measures include removing the county judge’s power to grant temporary injunctions and allowing district judge absence to permit temporary restraining orders with hearings within ten days, canceling water right appropriations after three years of non-use, requiring railroads to provide passages under the roadbed where land on both sides is owned by one person, and allowing libraries to hold property for member use.
The Pennsylvania tested an automatic train stopping device with an iron central post and a folding arm linked to a semaphore. A locomotive wing clears the post when folded. if not, the wing engages the post and applies all brakes, stopping an eight car train from fifty miles per hour in under its own length with minimal shock.
A dispatch claims an Indian named Shaving Bear was badly burned starting a fire with coal oil. The note notes no local Indians have resided in North Platte since the 1870s era Pine Ridge bands. The adjourned equity term of the district court will convene next Monday.
J R White, a Hershey area farmer, told The Tribune that his 26 acre alfalfa crop yielded 1294 tons in 1910 earning 1290.25 dollars. After shipping costs of 453.25 dollars, profit stood at 777 dollars, or seven percent interest on 422 dollars per acre. The report argues alfalfa can be a profitable crop.
About two thousand mallard ducks winter near the Wm. Rebbranch ten miles southeast of Lexington. They feed in nearby corn fields and roost on open water at night. Hunters report fat birds. Also, the Keith will present the rural comedy Joshua Simpkins next Saturday with a dramatic saw-mill scene and a band and orchestra.

Clark Buchanan returns from Omaha and goes to Alliance for a firemen convention. Miss Willa Whittaker heads east for several weeks. J J Halligan returns from Omaha after daughter Lucille’s operation. Ed Walker from Brush completes sewer work. J J Halligan and J G Beeler go to Lincoln then St. Louis for court arguments. Supt. McKeown of Cheyenne and Asst Supt Roth and Master Mechanic Niland spend Saturday in town. McKeown just back from a month in the south visiting Texas and New Orleans, days with W L Parks.
