Suave swindler targets Dixon’s jewelry with forged draft
Six months earlier a well dressed man with a diamond charm visited Dixon’s jewelry store seeking a solid gold collar button. He posed as Adams and claimed ties to a hardwood company planning a North Platte branch. He offered a $1,666 draft on the Colonial Bank of New York for diamonds and property, but Dixon refused cashless terms and the scheme failed after he declined the high pressure offer.
