The 1915 Birthe record shows 162 births and 100 deaths, with deaths exceeding births by 62. The registrar C F Temple notes not all deaths occurred of Birthe residents and provides the yearly breakdown by month.
Members and families of Local 60 percent A F M gathered at Herahoy Welch home for an evening of storytelling and entertainments. A trombone solo Everett Kendall and other performances delighted attendees before officers were installed by Wihison Tout.
The three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs C E Boyle of east Sixth street died at 3 am after several weeks illness. She contracted pneumonia in December then developed brain congestion and other diseases, never regaining consciousness. Funeral arrangements to be held tomorrow morning as the community extends sympathy to grieving parents. Bible Study Class in District No 1 meets with Mrs L L Butler Tuesday at 2 pm.
Local residents and visitors are noted in town for business, travel, and family matters. Several names appear with moves to Omaha Lincoln and Fullerton, social visits at Kensington, and upcoming joint installations for the G A R and Woodmen.
Miss Margiaretta Burke daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Burke longtime North Platte residents married Walter Klopp of Muleshoe Texas at her parents home in Omaha. Rev Mackay of All Saints Episcopal officiated with out of town guests including Mrs John Bratt. The couple will reside in Muleshoe after February 1.
At the request of Assistant Attorney General Roe the argument in the cane of hoy Roberta is continued from January 17 to February 1. Roberta was convicted in the Lincoln county district court of murdering Vernon Connett and given the death sentence. His attorney J. T. Keefe carried the case to the supreme court on error. Since conviction Roberta has been in the penitentiary.
A petition circulated asks that the name of H. M. Grimes be placed on the primary ballot for nomination on the Thirteenth Judicial district. Grimes faces unknown opposition, but the nomination is seen as assured and election next November deemed certain.
Presbyterian Church invites young men to a six part series beginning with a children friendly service. The first address titled The Young Man and his Body features a warm welcome and guidance in a friendly tone. Pastors promise helpful sermons and engaging music for this outreach.
Steward Smith hosts a billiard tournament between teams led by Harry Fleishman and Arthur Hoagland at the Mike home. The loser pays for a baked bean supper on January 24 at the home.
Earl Palmer and two companions killed a seven pound coyote considered the king of the coyotes in the Sutherland section after a days of eluding pursuers. A fire from a gasoline lighting plant was found at the A Yates store in Sutherland Wednesday night and extinguished before much damage. Mr and Mrs K E W Croan returned from a two week visit in Overton with relatives.
The Lincoln County Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union held its first annual meeting in this city with eleven local unions represented by thirty delegates from about 300 members. Officers were re elected and plans discussed include endorsing a rural credit proposal and continuing town business ventures.
A compilation of community updates from Sutherland and nearby towns. Visits include Mr and Mrs T J Williams of Okaloosa Iowa staying with Mr and Mrs Willard Hansen. J T Keefe returning from Sioux City. Revivals at Sutherland and bridge traffic updates are noted along with rifle club officer elections and an accident involving Karl Jennings.
