Lights curtailed for two Thursday Sunday nights under state order

State Fuel Administrator Kennedy announced an electric light order restricting merchant signs indoor lights when not open and prohibiting display lighting and advertising on buildings on Thursdays and Sundays. Households urged to reduce lighting and observe the two nights dark rule.

A report notes a fine new stock at La Vallieres featuring bracelet watches and silver and ivory toilet sets. Dixon the Jeweler and Mr and Mrs J A Frazier were passengers to Denver this morning.

Henry Doebke Dies At Local Hospital

Henry Doebke a North side ranchman died at a city hospital last night after an appendectomy two years ago and lingering illness. He owned ranch land in the hills and bottom land east of the Newark ranch with cattle and horses. He was about forty five, unmarried, with many friends who regret his passing. Funeral arrangements had not been completed.

Red Cross Campaign Faces Slow Start in North Platte

The Red Cross drive reports 1200 names and 1200 dollars collected by Wednesday evening. Despite efforts by local women in banks and businesses, North Platte aims for 2000 members and is unlikely to meet that target. Some households show full participation while others have no member contribution. A final push is planned tomorrow and Monday led by Chairman McEvoy and the membership committee.

County Food Committee Named by Chatawan Goodman

Ki R Goodman appointed county food administrator to Lincoln county forms a volunteer committee with members from North Platte Hershey Maxwell Moorefield Gandy and others. Members serve without pay as no travel funds are available. A separate price fixing panel will set sale prices for flour bread sugar and more with penalties for overpricing.

Weather inquiries rise as storms near. Shilling fields calls

The North U S Weather Bureau reports many inquiries about future weather from rural residents, with 50 to 100 calls daily during forecasted storms. Observer Shilling welcomes the questions as a public service.
