Lincoln State Treasurer Buys Nebraska School District Bonds
The Lincoln paper reports under a new amendment the State Treasurer is purchasing Nebraska school district bonds at 44 percent interest, boosting permanent school funds earnings by about 1 percent and lowering district interest costs to about 14 percent. Purchases were made this week in Maywood Fairmont and Wilcox districts. It also cites New York Times futures showing Taft led Roosevelt in the last election with 7,650,688 to 7,023,486, with Democratic and Socialist tallies and a decline in third party votes.
