Grimes Son Lee D. Grimes Dies in Chattanooga

Lee D. Grimes son and only child of Judge and Mrs H M Grimes died in Chattanooga Tennessee after pneumonia. The judge learned of his son’s illness Sunday and left for Chattanooga but could not reach him in time. Lee engaged in contracting work and his firm was a leading southern company. Funeral planned at home Sunday at two o clock unless changes arise after the judge arrives.

Maurice Lannin Killed In Action

A telegram to local railroad offices confirms Maurice Lannin a long time clerk in the roadmaster’s office was killed in action in France on November first. He served in a machine gun company of the 19th division with North Platte connections. He was about 32, remembered fondly by railroad employees as a modest and splendid young man.

Yale and Hearty at Eightieth Birthday Note

Yale and Hearty at Elicity J. R. Shaw, of this city, reached his eightieth birthday Tuesday and sends word to The Tribune that he is hale and hearty. Shaw served three years in the Civil War and was wounded in the right shoulder and arm. The wound troubled him until two years ago when amputation of the arm was performed in Omaha by Dr. Twinem. The operation was successful and he has since found life more enjoyable.

Otto Johnson of Sutherland killed in action November 6, five days before the fighting ceased. Son of J. H. Johnson, Otto was well known in Sutherland, having lived there since boyhood.

President Seeberger of the Red Cross Chapter announces a Soldiers' Home Welcome Committee of about twenty five members from Red Cross Commercial Club City Council Union Pacific Civilian Relief and other bodies. The group will plan to greet returning soldiers arrange employment and aid, including a welcome arch at the depot and public reception.

City Schools Health Report Reveals Absences From Flu

The city schools health report for the last twenty four hours shows nearly 200 children absent from the schools. Of these 107 are in families where there is illness and some have flu themselves. Some have recovered but remain home as a precaution. Parents of 94 children keep them from school to avoid flu exposure.

Bishop Beecher to Be Here for Sunday Services
