Red Sox Return to Open Four-Game Series

Kansas City Red Sox come back from a western trip to face a four game set today tomorrow and a Sunday double header with the local team. Also scheduled are dates with Nebraska Collegians on Sept 5 6 and 7 and a future series with Columbus and other state league teams as part of the fall festival tournament plans.

Belcher Shot Wounded in Logan County Quarrel

Ralph Belcher of the Fourth ward was shot in the left side during a quarrel with his wife. The shooting occurred Saturday night over the county line. A Logan county man fired to prevent violence and Belcher was served with a peace warrant as his wife fears retaliation.

Automobile crash in Hershey injures Friend Carpenter

Friend Carpenter of Hershey suffered injuries after a car swerved near the Presbyterian church and turned turtle early this week. Edwin DeLong was a passenger and unharmed. Mrs Daley of Florence visited Mrs Long and others head to Sidney. Misses Esther and Sarah Kelly plan a trip to Kearney for a few days. Aunt Diana and kin will serve hot buckwheat cakes at the Presbyterian carnival September 1. The WCTU meets at Mrs Banks home Tuesday at three with coffee and refreshments.

Americans in Mexico Flee as Wilson Warns Evacuation Accelerates

State department says two weeks hence fewer than 1,000 Americans may remain in Mexico while about 10,000 have already left. Some 4,000 needing aid and 80 mustering funds of 100,000 dollars are needed immediately for refugee relief. 2,000 will exit via the east coast and northern border, 1,000 via the west coast.
