Mayor Evans and the council committees near resolution of the fire department muddle after volunteers resigned. Plan to buy an auto fire truck with high capacity chemical extinguisher for about five thousand dollars and house it at Hinman garage with quarters for four firemen. Likely savings by replacing paid team and leases, tearing down hose houses, and selling lumber.
A Tuesday program at the Empress Theatre features a two reel special with Fancy Fowls and What the Doctor Ordered. It also includes A Gambler's Honor starring O'Hara as a Guardian Angel and By Unseen Hands.

Sam Bowers a former North Platte barber now deputy state game warden arrived to stop prairie chicken killing. He staged roadblocks and chased hunters, but suspects escaped. he later found a chicken as evidence and urged charges, then threatened to push action against local officials. Harry Fritz left this morning for Kansas City after playing with the local team. The Roys Neighbors and friends will gather at Mrs. H. P. Hinkle home 603 East Second Street Thursday for a lawn social with good attendance. Loren Hastings returned last week from Denver after a two week visit.
A film lineup review featuring Crystal Theatre offerings including Campaigning With Custer two reel Westerns with impersonations of General Custer and rescue plots. It lists The Frontier Twins and other titles plus a Rex comedy Sally Scraggs and notes on Doris Lowery and Frank Norcross in an employment plot.
Col W F Cody known as Buffalo Bill will tour next year with the Selia Floto circus to personally conduct a historical pageant. The production portrays early frontier scenes and pioneer struggles, appealing to children and Western history enthusiasts. Cody arrived from Cheyenne after attending a frontier show exhibition.
Announcement of a new shoe repairing department offering good work at reasonable prices. Harness shop on Locust Street invites patronage as the public is urged to support the new service.
Last Wednesday evening Mary Ellen Welsch and G Edward Mann, both of Maor-Welsch, were married at the Christian parsonage with Rev. Knowles officiating. A quiet supper followed at the groom’s home. The couple, longtime residents, will make their home in North Platte with Mann employed by the railroad.
